Medicare
Part
A, B, & D |
|
Medicare Part A—
covers days 1-20 of skilled nursing home care in full. Days 21-100 will require a co-insurance payment which may be covered under nursing home Medicaid, a supplemental insurance policy, or may be paid privately.
Medicare Part B— covers therapy charges for residents in a skilled nursing facility. Part B pays at 80%, while a co-insurance payment of 20% is required either from a supplemental insurance policy, nursing home Medicaid, or may be paid privately.
Medicare Part D— assist Medicare recipients with drug coverage. A resident who is ineligible for nursing home Medicaid will be required to pay a monthly premium for Part D coverage along with co-pays for medications. Nursing home eligible residents are termed ‘dual eligible’ and are not required to pay premiums or co-pays. |
